The Bakelite Museum is currently in storage on the Somerset Levels. It's partially displayed and every now and then we invite you to come and have a look. Our first Open Weekend of 2026 will be on 27th and 28th June. Please send us a message on the contact form on this website to book.

## NEWSFLASH!! UPDATE ON POSSIBILITY OF NEW PREMISES!! ##
The Bakelite Museum is part of Colvestone Co-Lab, a consortium of interesting, artistic and community-based organisations bidding to re-purpose Colvestone Primary School in Hackney - where plastics first began before Bakelite was invented. Colvestone Primary School in Dalston has been closed owing to falling pupil numbers and we propose to bring this fine Victorian building back into use by opening it as a creative and cultural centre. It will include artists' studios, music training and performance, puppetry, pottery and two fabulous museums. We at the Bakelite Museum are pleased and proud to be working with Pollocks Toy Museum, another wonderful, entertaining and longstanding collection that has also been looking for new premises for some time. The collective submitted an Expression of Interest in October and we are pleased to say that Hackney Council have put it on the shortlist. And Colvestone Co-Lab has received an email of support from the Arts Council.
